The Consultation

THE 'SECTION 10' CONSULTATION & 'MEET US' EVENTS

The school is currently in the ‘pre-opening phase’, which means that:

  • the Department for Education have approved the proposal for the new school,

  • Lingfield Education Trust’s initial staffing, finance and pupil build up plans have been given the green light,

  • an experienced headteacher has been appointed,

  • the site is being fully renovated by the Department for Education to ensure it is of the highest quality learning environment – both inside and outside

  • the school is asked to consult with local people and stakeholders to consider community views and opinions so that they can be considered prior to the opening of the school.

Lingfield Education Trust was pleased to announce the launch of our Section 10 consultation  in relation to our new primary school, Cambrai Primary School. We are legally required to hold a consultation as part of Section 10 of the Academies Act 2010. The consultation ended on 10th November 2018.

Now the consultation period is complete, we will consider all the views and comments put forward and make any adjustments to our proposals that may be necessary.  This information will then be reviewed by the Secretary of State for Education in seeking approval to enter into a Funding Agreement with Lingfield Education Trust.  This will enable the school to offer unconditional places and open in September 2019.

During this consultation process we were keen to hear views about all aspects of the proposed new school, including as to whether Lingfield Education Trust should enter into a funding agreement with the Secretary of State to open the new school.  Further information about Funding Agreements is included in the FAQ’s section of the site. .

In the meantime, we are able to formally receive applications for children wishing to start school in Reception in September 2019.  Please visit our admissions page for more information.  All applications must be submitted by 15th January 2019 at the very latest.

We will record all views that are shared with us during the formal consultation window and they will help inform the Secretary of State for Education's decision on whether to enter into a Funding Agreement with the Elevate Multi Academy Trust.

All consultation responses were received via a web based consultation link, or via our meet and greet events. This website and downloadable pack, available on this page, aims to provide key information to all stakeholders (families, other schools, residents etc) in order for questions to be answered and potential comments to be coherently collected.

The population of the area around Catterick Garrison is set to rise considerably over the next few years. Recently, there has been a large scale building programme of new houses across the area, further housing developments planned, as well as plans to potentially increase the size of the Garrison to a ‘Super Garrison’, with an increase in service families’ accommodation as a result. North Yorkshire County Council identified the need for a new school, following the expansion of many of the local schools in the area, in order to address their projected shortfall of pupil places over the coming years.

Lingfield Education Trust were successful in bidding to open the school, following a process of scrutiny by the Department for Education and the Regional School’s Commissioner.  Cambrai Primary School will provide families with a further choice of school in the community, from September 2019.

*Please note: This consultation is not related to any building or planning applications surrounding the new school; it is solely to consult on whether appropriate persons support the Academy Trust to enter into a Funding Agreement with the Secretary of State for Education to run Cambrai Primary School.

The consultation period was from 1st October 2018 to 10th November 2018.

We welcome everyone to our meet and greet events - families, children, residents and those with a vested interest in the school. These informal 'drop ins' will include an opportunity to speak to key staff, such as the headteacher, Mark Dent, ask any questions you may have - and hear about the school first hand.

An additional 'Meet Us' event will take place on Monday 7th January 2019, at Catterick Leisure Centre, between 4pm-6.30pm.
