NEW EXECUTIVE HEAD FOR CAMBRAI PRIMARY SCHOOL
Lingfield Education Trust has appointed an Executive Head to Cambrai Primary School in Catterick, set to open in September 2019.
Mark Dent, 37, has 16 years of experience in teaching. As well as Executive Head of Cambrai Primary School, Mark is also Schools Improvement Lead at Lingfield Education Trust.
He said: “Cambrai is a school for the whole community and I will be ensuring that new pupils receive a high-quality teaching experience through an exciting curriculum. Our focus will be on children feeling safe and nurtured and the school building has been cleverly designed with young children in mind. We will be using our space to help children reach their full potential, with learning in classrooms, outdoors, via class trip, through ICT and play.
“Cambrai’s leadership team is adopting an inclusive, family approach to school life and promoting high aspirations for children, regardless of background – academically, socially, through sports and the arts. We look forward to celebrating our children’s strengths.”
Originally from Bishop Auckland, Mark has a wealth of robust leadership and teaching experience across the North East, having developed schools in the County Durham area and as an advisory teacher for Durham County Council.
Cambrai Primary School is located on Catterick Road, on the site previously occupied by Darlington College. It will be extensively renovated and transformed – both internally and externally - to create first class education accommodation and outdoor learning environment.
The school is part of Lingfield Education Trust, which won the bid for the new school after a shortage of primary school places was identified in the area. With the population of Catterick Garrison set to rise over the next few years, a large-scale building programme of new housing developments is taking place in the area.
Nick Blackburn, chief executive of Lingfield Education Trust, said: “Mark’s appointment is a really exciting one for us as we look to further strengthen our leadership team at the Trust and grow our network of schools across County Durham, Teesside and North Yorkshire. Our vision is to make the biggest difference to children in our schools and the communities in which they live and Mark’s work in continuing the hard work of our excellent teaching teams will certainly help us to achieve this.”
A consultation event for parents to find out more is taking place at Cambrai Primary School on Wednesday 24 October at Catterick Leisure Centre, between 11am-12.30pm, and 6pm-7.30pm.
